| Our “Classical Tour“ does not lead only along the Danube, but through the interior of the country, on safe and quiet roads through pretty landscapes and beautiful nature, undiscovered by mass-tourism. Popular Highlights of this bike tour (among others): Cycling on the west side of Lake Neusiedl, on the west and south coast of Lake Balaton, and “Budapest by Night” - a bus-tour through the beautifully illuminated city. |
Day 1. – ARRIVAL IN VIENNA. – Individual arrival in Vienna, latest until 6:30pm. Route briefing and dinner. Day 2. – PRATER AND BURGENLAND. – Getting out of Vienna through the Prater-Park on remote streets, cycling until Bruck a. d. Leitha. (Stage: approx. 32 miles / 52 km) Day 3. – LAKE FERTÖ AND SOPRON. – Our first destination is Parndorf then we cycle on along shore of Lake Fertö, through Rust (town of the storks) and Mörbisch. Sopron, today‘s destination, is the only Hungarian town where almost the entire city centre has survived from the middle ages. (Stage: approx. 39 miles / 62 km) Day 4. – HAYDN AND THE ESZTERHÁZY DYNASTY. – Today, we enjoy the beautiful view on the Fertö Lake and the nice scenery of the region. A landscape of vastness, which influenced the horizon, views and the genius mind of Haydn. Visit in the magnificent baroque palace of the prince family of Eszterházy in Fertöd (Eszterháza). Joseph Haydn had been working here for almost 30 years as a court composer and conductor. (Stage: approx. 35 miles / 56 km) Day 5. – RURAL BAROQUE IN MAGYARPOLÁNY. – We cycle through restful villages. The destination of this day, Magyarpolány is something special. (folkart - Way of the Cross) The village was given the Europa-Nostra prize in 1992. Dinner is traditional Gulasch, in the atmosphere of the countryside. (Stage: approx. 41 miles / 66 km) Day 6. – NATURE AND LAKE HÉVÍZ. –A wonderful cycling route leads us through lovely villages. Stork nests decorate the roofs and the masts. The next stop will be the well-known spa resort Hévíz with its largest natural thermal lake of Europe. (Stage: approx. 39 miles / 62 km) Day 7. – THE MAGIC OF LAKE BALATON, THEN BUDAPEST. – We leave the town of Keszthely at the Lake Balaton. Cycling first on the western- and then on the southern side of the lake. We continue cycling along the flat southern lakeside. Of course you have possibility to swim. We reach the middle of southern shore of the Lake Balaton quickly. Goodbye look on the Balaton; a transfer bus is waiting for us to take us to Budapest (takes about 1.5 hour). Today’s evening program: Budapest by Night; sightseeing by bus in the magnificently illuminated city. (Stage: approx. 39 miles / 63 km) Day 8. – Individual departure after breakfast – or additional nights in Budapest or in Vienna. We gladly book you a transfer to Vienna upon request. You can choose between hydrofoil, bus or railway. (Supplementary service.)
